1. Just what is your problem!

March 18, 2008 by Callum Haywood

It really, no really, gets me annoyed when people like on the Windows Live Gallery website and ranting on about killing XP and how they think Vista is ‘amazing’, comments like this I’m talking about:

THIS IS PRICELESS. Also Windows needs to start focusing on making vista better. They already released another service pack which makes better paformance with XP. Bad move, they shoulda fixed vista more and kill XP, STAB XP IN THE HEART I SAY!!! STAB IT!!!STAB IT!!!. But Im sure Vista will get much better, for me i have been a long XP user and vista in my opinion beats XP by a long shot. I see a bright happy future for vista!!

I mean, do they even know what DRM is and how it affects Windows Vista?

Of course, I have two machines on Windows Vista (Home Premium) and another two machines on Windows XP (Home Edition) or three if you include the fact that my main PC has both OSes installed on dual-boot.

I think that XP should remain active – as far as I’m concerned, what about legacy users, those people who just can’t install Vista because of the state of their PC – okay so you might tell them to go and buy some decent hardware but not everyone can afford that. Windows FLP; people hardly even know about this and its only available to Microsoft Software Assurance customers.

I also think that Windows Vista is one move forward in computing. It has its down sides, as do all operating systems, and it has its good points, as do most operating systems, but its not what I’d call an ‘amazing’ operating system.

Also, may I say, the quote contained within this post hasn’t been changed from the one I found on the Windows Live Gallery website.

  2. Software I simply couldn’t live without

March 15, 2008 by Callum Haywood

I’ve compiled this list of software, thats correctly titled, software I simply couldn’t live without, in no particular order.

First on my list is RocketDock. It’s amazing. You can get it at www.rocketdock.com and it’s free. Basically I’ve set it up so that when I move my mouse to the top of the screen, a bar comes down with all my other useful programs; then all I do is click on the program icon and it launches – much convenient (and faster) than Vista’s Start Menu.

Second on my list just has to be Firefox. It too is amazing. If you don’t already use it, I think you should (its a browser, by the way) and you can get it at www.firefox.com – not much more really I can say about it, apart from its free.

Third would have to be Notepad. Thats not Notepad2 or Notepad++ (both of which I’ve used) – but just Microsoft’s defualt Notepad. Sounds silly; well I’m a PHP coder. Dreamweaver is too overcrowded, Notepad++ just isn’t for me and Notepad2 is good apart from its font handling.

    And that completes my list.

  3. Welcome back!

March 11, 2008 by Callum Haywood

Hello. Welcome back to this new version of my website, after the “Coming Soon” page had been there for just too long.

The content is better, the site is a LOT faster and the design looks great (in my opinion, at least).

  4. eBay Desktop; my opinion

March 8, 2008 by Callum Haywood

eBay Desktop; Your Desktop, Your eBay.

Yeah – I like the eBay Desktop program – its unlike other programs of the sort (not just for eBay) where they’re just web-browsers and a different, cut-down, version of their website.

It uses AIR technology (Adobe Intergrated Runtime) and was extremely fast on my machine. One thing I really like about it is the fact that double-clicking the tray icon opens the main window on the last screen that you saw before you closed it off.

One thing I don’t really like is the general yellow interface – it looks a bit cheap and tacky too me; like a bogus gambling website or something.

Overall, it’s a good program and I like it, even though I’m not the most active eBay member.
